Our Mississauga, Caledon, and Vaughan music schools offer weekly, in-studio piano, voice and guitar lessons with a large selection of excellent post-secondary educated teachers. At DeGazon Music Studios, we offer a variety music programs and private piano lessons for students of all ages including beginner to advanced learners. For the most effective learning, we recommend you have a piano or keyboard at home to practice on and purchase the music books recommended.
If students wish they may prepare for and take optional playing and theory exams offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music. (RCM). The Royal Conservatory is a national testing board that is based in Toronto with examination locations all over North America. The RCM allows students to test for certain grades in an instrument or voice. For example a student could prepare to take a grade 2 piano exam. To do this the student would purchase the grade 2 music books and learn the required material. Exams are held multiple times per year at various locations (close to home) around the GTA. Most of our students choose to learn their instrument recreationally and do not take exams. If a student does wish to take an exam, our school can fully prepare them for any level of testing, while still playing fun contemporary music to keep things interesting. We have helped many of our students complete exams successfully at all grade levels.
Benefits of doing the RCM Examinations include earning high school credits. Grade 7 piano and grade 1 rudiments together are equivalent to a grade 11 high school credit. Grade 8 piano and grade 2 rudiments together are equivalent to a grade 12 high school credit. For more information, please visit https://examinations.rcmusic.ca/academic-resources/general-information
